Dear Public Official,

I'm writing with deep concern about the potential sale and closure of Pittsburgh International Race Complex. For more than two decades, Pitt Race has been a pillar of our community, a vital economic engine, and a second home for tens of thousands of enthusiasts. This isn't just a track; it's a regional institution. Major events like the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix and GridLife bring in over 100,000 people annually, supporting our local hotels, restaurants, and small businesses. Its reach extends far beyond the local region, as people travel to Pitt Race as one of the premier tracks in the North East.

Losing it would be a massive blow to the regional economy. It's a critical venue for the Steel Cities Region SCCA, with its 500+ members, and for thriving communities in drifting, autocross, and karting. It's also an irreplaceable educational resource for regional university engineering programs that depend on the track for testing and competition.

While the new owner's plans are unconfirmed, widespread rumors suggest the track will be demolished to build a data center.

This isn't about opposing new development, but ensuring it enhances our community rather than replacing a key part of it. A data center creates few permanent jobs while putting a massive strain on our power grid and water supply. Replacing a vibrant, active community hub with that is not a net gain for the region.

I'm asking you to please use your position to advocate for a solution that allows for both. A data center can be built on undeveloped land, not take away an existing, thriving part of our local economy and culture. Please work toward a solution that preserves the invaluable economic, educational, and cultural asset that is Pitt Race.
